Mail
Bag Escape - £65.00
Skill Rating: Easy
The magician
is padlocked in a large pre-examined mailbag from which he magically
escapes. The bag can be thoroughly examined before and after performance.
It is a canvas bag, with metal grommets on top. A solid examined
steel bar is passed through these grommets, with padlocks on both
ends of the bar, any padlocks can be used. This is a very effective
escape act, which may be presented as a complete act, or embellished
with additional escape props. For example, the magician could be
handcuffed and then placed in the bag, and escape from both bag
and handcuffs. Or the bag could be used in conjunction with a Substitution
trunk.
Thumb
Cuffs - £10.00
Skill Rating: Easy
The magician has a spectator examine a pair of un-gimmicked double-locked
thumb cuffs. The spectator is then locked into the thumb cuffs and
is unable to escape. The magician shows that only 2 keys can open
the cuffs and free the spectator. The magician gives both keys to
another spectator to hold. A volunteer locks the magician's thumb
cuffs on. The spectator covers the magician's hand with a cloth
(not included). Instantly the magician has escaped! Wait...he's
in again...no, he's out! Finally, when the cloth is whisked away,
the cuffs have completely vanished!!! Comes with real thumb cuffs,
and 2 keys.
Quick
Release Handcuffs - £15.00
Skill Rating: Intermediate
The magician asks two spectators to examine two padlocks
that are going to be used to fasten him into a set of old-fashioned
handcuffs. These handcuffs have a frame that holds the two hands apart.
The spectator then fastens the magician into the handcuffs; however
the magician can remove his hands in seconds, and just as quickly
replace them to be confirmed as secure, before escaping again.

Houdini
on Magic, by Walter Gibson & Morris Young - £10.99
Harry Houdini’s
fame is secure as the greatest magician of modern times. Many of his
fabulous escapes, indeed, now sound more like legend than history,
ye they really happened. He permitted himself to be thrown, manacled,
into Hudson River; to be nailed into packing
cases and lowered into the ocean; to be suspended by the ankles, straitjacketed,
hundreds of feet above the ground – and in every case escaped easily.
This book is Houdini’s own accounts of these exploits, supplemented
with rare photographs and posters, first-hand material from periodicals
and pamphlets, and behind-the-scenes revelations of some of the master’s
most prized secrets: how he picked locks, how he sawed a girl in half
to become twins, how he walked through a brick wall, how a girl can
vanish from a sheet of plate glass without trapdoors, hoists, mirrors
or other such apparatus. There are also instructions for performing
44 stage tricks. These are illustrated with diagram sequences that
cover every step in performance. Finally, of special interest to many
readers are Houdini’s accounts of great magicians of history and of
Houdini’s own battles with spiritualists and fraudulent mediums. 155
illustrations, 280 pages, size: 5⅜" x 8½"
